I saw that. What a bummer. He was so freakin' good in SALEM'S LOT it was unreal. Totally believable. Maybe the most believable fearless vampire hunter in cinema history. Despite his obvious talent, he never could shake off his STARSKY & HUTCH type-casting, and unlike Shatner, seemed unwilling to go with the flow. Like Shatner & Nimoy, Soul also released music albums, such was his (relatively brief) fame. (he started out as singer in musical theater). His song, "Don't give up on us" actually went to #1 in the US & UK. He recorded 7 albums in all. It was his appearance on an ep of STAR TREK ("The Apple", along with Charlies Napier) that got him a role on "Here come the brides," which led to other roles, including a great one in MAGNUM FORCE where he very believable as a rouge cop. Which of course led him to S&H and lasting fame. After a slew of guest appearances on US TV, Soul moved to Britain where he continued acting, but of course never regained the massive fame from earlier in his career.
