Disney might want to stop taking British tax credits, 'cause in doing so they make the actual cost of their movies public.
Which has now happened with THE LITTLE MERMAID, which Disney had previously leaked the cost being $250 million. BUZZ! Wrong answer as the UK tax records indicate a cost of $300. Throw in another $50-150 million in ad buys and it's very likely that a movie that did not need re-making cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $400,000,000.00
Which is bad/insane enough, but seeing as it only grossed $567 million world-wide (meaning only about $282 million take home for Disney) and LITTLE MERMAID looks to have lost some $120,000,000.
Which will never be made up in new subscribers (which Disney is losing faster than a drunk loses his keys), or DVD/Blueray sales.
With INDIANA JONES and last weekend's THE CREATOR crashing like a lead zeppelin plus 2 more super-flops coming down the pipe in the forms of SNOW WHITE (already totally radioactive due to insane casting choices), and THE MARVELS (same reason) and Disney will set an all time new record for biggest money losing movies of all time.
Throw into that mix the complete dumpster fire of ASKHOSA and Disney is absolutely spiraling the drain.
Yet no one has been fired. No apology issued. No indication that the movies coming out in 2024 will be any better. Poor butterflies.

Might as well burn a pile of money - at least the fire would be entertaining while it lasted.
