WISH, Disney's last chance to redeem itself this year, debuted at #3 over the long Thanksgiving weekend, behind a reboot of HUNGER GAMES (in its 2nd week), and NAPOLEON, a movie twice as long and aimed at a much smaller audience.
$31 million gross over 5 days despite a massive ad blitz and a movie-friendly holiday is as about as bad as it gets, and sadly for the poor share holders of this disaster of a company, there's still no bottom.
Rumor is that Disney has only produced one movie this year that actually made money (even as it's streaming service is also losing billions).
All while mountains of STAR WARS, Marvel, and other Disney related merch rots on toy shelves all across America. All while thousands of former fans flee the company forever. All while their parks stand empty.
Yet CEO Bob Eiger is still employed. Heck, everyone is still employed. Less accountability then the government.
The only real question remaining is when Disney files papers for re-organization, and/or sells off everything they've acquired in the past 5 years. What a disgrace.

And all of this is totally self-inflicted. Literally scuttling the ship.

It's like a never ending meme of a guy punching himself in the nuts, over and over again.

A new analysis indicated that Disney just lost a half billion dollars....
...this November alone: "Valliant Renegade then noted how The Walt Disney Company has burned through so much money just on these two films in November 2023, "So if The Marvels finishes out slightly above $200 million and Wish somehow magically works it way up to $150 to $200 million then that means that these two movies combined may only actually recover the monies that The Walt Disney Company spent just to market these things into theaters. "That means the $200 million the Disney company spent on Wish and the $300 million they spent on The Marvels is completely gone," he asserted." ---------------------------------
$500 million gone in one month's time. Strong work guys!
Now there's rumor's that Kevin Feige - the guy behind THE AVENGERS - might be eyeing STAR WARS next. He might want to reconsider.
That's because the only way STAR WARS can be saved is to sell it back to Lucas.
And while Feige did do a good job with AVENGERS, he had Robert Downey Jr and all those Stan Lee stories to form the foundation. He won't have any of that for SW, and indeed, the franchise is now so radioactive that short of selling it back to Lucas, the next best thing would be to memory hole the last three films....
...Yet Kathleen Kennedy (who, beyond any rational explanation, still has a job in the film industry) told everyone in April that Disney is moving forward with 3 more movies featuring Daisy Ridley as Rey.
You know, Rey - the character people can't get enough of! The character who's toys fly off the shelves... right into discount bins all across the land.
Any way, to recap - Disney's going bankrupt.
