In recent years she battled a number of serious health problems, including a stroke, intestinal cancer, and total kidney failure that required an organ transplant. She was absolutely great, if for no other reason than that she's the only performer in human history to sing a song about Thunderdome. RIP

Also just as an example of a performer who completely reinvented herself in the 80's so spectacularly, that to some her career in the 70's was a surprise.
Private Dancer was absolutely huge.
