Disney - already in massively disastrous financial straights - has a lot riding on the fifth and presumably last installment of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. Like More than $300 million and the hope that the franchise could go on. At $300 million, it's the most expensive Indy movie ever made.
Now this film already had 2 and a 1/2 strikes against it before the first word was penned. One, Harrison Ford stopped acting about a quarter century ago. Once the best living actor, he now mostly grunts and growls when he needs to "emote".
2nd, he's 80 years old and he looks older - in no way shape or form can you believe him as an action star, even if was still trying to act. Which he's not.
Which Spielberg and Lucas must have recognized as neither one of them have a thing to do with this turd-burger. Sadly, Kathleen Kennedy did, which sank whatever chance was left of not making a disaster.
And a disaster it truly is as the reviews from professional reviewers who saw the movie at the Canne film festival last weeks are absolutely crushing the movie as an absolute piece of shit money grab.
And these are the same reviewers who would normally be counted on to praise whatever dreck Disney made as stunning and brave. So for them to ruthlessly destroy the movie is a very bad sign for Disney... and hopefully Kennedy, who is still - somehow - in charge of STAR WARS.
If that weren't bad enough, St. Thomas Cruise the 1st (praise be his name) will debut his new MISSION IMPOSSIBLE movie on the same weekend INDY 5 comes out. I think we all know how that's going to turn out.
Ford should have been shown the door and Chris Pratt given the hat & whip. Instead, Disney thought it a good idea for this movie not only to have Ford still play the part, but also thought he should pass the reigns to an English woman. You know, like what STAR WARS did in their last set of highly successful fil----
What's that? Those movies were disasters too? Gee, no kidding.
