Insert your woke/broke meme now:
"For its first fiscal quarter, Disney’s direct-to-consumer business — which includes Disney+, Hulu, and other services — lost $1.05 billion, a 78 percent larger loss from the same period a year ago. The figure represents a slight sequential improvement from the fourth quarter, which saw a $1.5 billion loss for the unit." ----------------------------- Disney has lost almost a two and a half million subscribers.
All that despite having the biggest show in the world in the form of MANDALORIAN and the biggest movie franchise with AVENGERS.
But of course they also have some other not so family-friendly content:
"Disney+ recently featured a transgender “man” who menstruates in its animated Baymax series for kids.
The streamer has also cast a drag queen and a “trans-masculine” actress in the upcoming Marvel superhero series Ironheart." -----------------------------
And of course, Florida has retracted Disney's ability to build without oversight because of their foray into transgender rights, jeopardizing their theme park business as well.
So far, Disney has been willing to sacrifice jobs - 7000 of them announced this week alone - and profit margins by going ultra-woke, but as they face losing a billion and a half dollars every 3 months and an on-going hostile take over attempt, something will have to give sooner than later.
If it doesn't, Disney - the once unstoppable juggernaut of the entertainment business - will go the way of 20th Century Fox.

I guess people just aren't ready for wall-to-wall "everyone is trans and gay", Satanic-themed, anti-God, anti-family "entertainment"?

And another round a massive layoffs is coming: "Insiders tell Deadline that multiple rounds of cuts are being prepared. The first one is being targeted for late March, likely next week, we hear. (March 30 or March 31 have been floated as possible dates, but that has not been confirmed.) According to sources, there will be a big wave in late April, described as “the big one” or a “bloodbath,” when a large portion of the cuts are expected to come. Information varies on a potential third round of layoffs. Some say it might come between the one in late March and the one in late April, while others note that it could follow the one in late April if it’s deemed necessary. Disney declined to comment." ------------------------- Poor butterflies. What's odd is that if you believe Disney, they're still making money over-all, although it's difficult to asertain exactly how much due to Disney voodoo. Yet we do know that the net income of Disney - $3 billion - is a staggering $8 billion less then is garnered in 2019. It's $9 billion less than in 2018. In Fact, other than 2020 (the biggest year of covid), Disney made brought in less money last year then any of the last 17 years. Clearly, obviously, the woke/broke thing is real. Weird that Disney thinks firing thousands of drones is going to fix the problem when it's programming all across the board - from ESPN to the Oscars to it's movies like STAR WARS - have swung 180 degrees away from what made them valuable in the first place. And firing a bunch of lower level workers isn't going to fix that. www.statista.com/statistics/273556/net-income-of-the-walt-disney-company/deadline.com/2023/03/disney-layoffs-coming-annual-shareholder-meeting-bob-iger-1235303513/

I hate seeing people lose their jobs. While I delight in Disney suffering for it's foolishness, I hate seeing working families punished for things they had nothing to do with for the most part. Unless they're firing Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity staff (DIE), which is acceptable and morally correct.

...And an entire division scrapped today: "Disney scraps metaverse unit in cost-cutting move as wider layoffs loom Disney scrapped its fledgling metaverse unit as part of the company’s layoff plan, resulting in the unit’s entire staff — roughly 50 employees — losing their jobs. The shutdown is reportedly a preamble to the Mouse House’s $5.5 billion in cuts and a larger round of workforce reduction that could impact approximately 7,000 employees, sources said. The restructuring is slated to be completed during the next two months, The Wall Street Journal reported. Led by Mike White, a former Disney consumer-products executive, the division was responsible for exploring innovative ways to present interactive stories using Disney’s vast library of intellectual property, sources said, White is retained at the company, but his new role remains unclear. White and the company did not immediately respond to The Post’s comment request." ------------------------ I believe he did though: "Second deck!" nypost.com/2023/03/28/disney-scraps-metaverse-unit-in-cost-cutting-move-as-wider-layoffs-loom/
