I saw that. Not mentioned in your excerpt is that this is how the CEO discribed the increase: "...a one-in-200-year catastrophe would be 10% increase over pre-pandemic,” he said. “So 40% is just unheard of.”

Obviously, the vast majority of these deaths is violence and drug over-dose and not covid (which the CEO also mentions).
But hey, let's keep shutting down society and moving those goal posts ever backwards - I'm sure it won't make people crazy or anything.
